I'm wondering about hardware. Service is another and
important subject, difficult to quantify.

What's the difference between one aid and another?
What feature(s) justify high price?

Here's one BTE hearing aid's list. Please expand.

hard ear mold or soft
16 equalization bands
128 band noise reduction
squelch
loudness level adjustment
directional microphone
telecoil
volume control: manual and automatic
dynamic feedback canceller
alternative programs; 3 or 4

Specification:
MAX SSPL 90 = 130 (or 134) db
HFA SSPL 90 123 db
MAX FOG 60 db
HFA FOG 56 db
THD 500 Hz <5% 800<3% 1.6 <3%
EIN <26 db
Battery drain 1.3 mA max

What do high-priced "premium" aids add to this hardware?

previous attempt to start a thread on this subject)
