| Deaf Initiative in Information Technology (DIIT) workshops are
designed especially for deaf and hard-of-hearing IT professionals. As
a workshop participant, you will learn new technical skills, in an all
sign environment, while networking with other deaf IT professionals.

Computer Interfacing and Networking - July 10-14, 2006
Description: This workshop provides a deeper understanding of
software/hardware computer interfacing, networking, and information
exchange. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to
understand various kinds of interfacing such as USB, parallel, serial,
IEEE-485, Ethernet and others. Participants will use PCs and embedded
controllers to perform, monitor, and/or control functions such as
gathering and reporting sensor readings and/or controlling motors and
switches.

SQL Fundamentals for Relational Database Systems - July 17-21, 2006
Description: Structured Query Language (SQL) and Relational Database
Management Systems (RDMS) are rapidly becoming indispensable tools for
today�s IT professional. In this workshop, participants will

basic relational database concepts; work with SQL�s data
definitions,
data control, and data manipulation constructs; and utilize new skills
learned to write simple queries to extract data from a typical RDMS.

Building Dynamic Web Applications with ColdFusion - July 24-28, 2006
Description: This workshop provides an introduction to ColdFusion,
one of the most popular application server environments for creating
dynamic multimedia Web applications. The workshop will focus on using
Structured Query Language (SQL) commands to manipulate database data
and on using ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML) to create dynamic,
database-driven Web applications.

Description: Macromedia�s ColdFusion MX makes creating and
maintaining dynamic Web application easy. Participants will get
hands-on experience exploring the ColdFusion elements that provide

Active Directory Fundamentals for Network Administrators - August
21-25, 2006
Description: Microsoft Active Directory (AD) is a computer network
service that businesses and organizations use to share and manage
information efficiently among network resources and users. AD can
manage network security, relationships of distributed resources, and
consolidate management tasks.
