Author Statins & hearing loss?

Does anyone know about a possible connection between hearing loss and
statin use, possibly in triggering auditory neuropathy?

FYI I did look up archives of newsgroup posting on this, but they are
several years old.

I don't know for sure but I would think they actually might help as high
cholesterol is a concern for people experiencing hearing loss.
Have a beer or two and don't worry about it.

Hard to get good data because age-related hearing loss occurs regardless
of statins. A possibly destructive test would have to be run on young
people who have good hearing. We don't do that kind of testing (thank
goodness for civilization).
