| "Ken" < kkerrison@ozemail.com.au>,
You mentioned last November21, 2005 about IBM Via Scribe. Is this software
available now for purchase for individuals ? Does the speaker has to be
trained by IBM to be able to use it so a transcription/ caption appears on a
screen? Most speech recog software requires a certain amount of tranining .
I am interested in any new information about this. Thanks. HT

| I don't recall the post - I suspect I was simply quoting from Business
Week or some other source. I have never owned any speak write software
though I have often suggested that it will be realised at some stage
and will be useful for many purposes, not only for the deaf. Over the
years the subject has often been discussed but, as far as I know, a
reasonably effective speak write does not yet exist. And, as I have
often pointed out, such a device would be useful even if only 40%
accurate and even if it offered a choice of possible words. Your brain
would do the rest.
A search revealed the following link which me be of interest but you
will find others if you search - interesting subject. And it will be
realised one day.
