My POCKETTALKER PRO is too loud and I have a 50db loss in each ear
along with chronic tinnitus.
Could there be a defect in the POCKETTALKER itself? If I try to contact
WilliamsSound directly, they'll just refer me to a dealer. I've
tried various headsets, but none work as well as the one that came with
the
POCKETTALKER.

Any electronics techs, engineers or musicians out there who can give
advice?

I don't have a PocketTalker. Is there no volume control?

There are two potentiometers inside the back cover, one is for tone
and the other is for volume. Sometimes reading the accompanying
manual material can be quite helpful, I recommend giving it a try.

Goofed on the other message try--clearly I'm new at this <smile>.

Thanks to all who have replied so far. Just a couple of points:
-the volume control is set at 0; that's why I'm having such a problem
-I'll see if I can find a manual (that's one case in which the mfr
website might be helpful); I've had this puppy for awhile...

Keep the ideas coming!

Best,
Digi

I stand corrected.I finally found the two potentiometers and figured
out how to tweak them. Now I just have to decide what to do about the
new order. Anyway, thanks for your persistence.

Yes, in fact I do. However, it was manufactured before the features
were added.

Thanks Lou. Good news: HLHC via Paypal gave me an immediate refund.

I CHOOSE to use a Pocket Talker instead of HAs. I am, in fact, able to
get HAs; I just don't . At its best, the PT gives you the most bang
for your buck, bar none (cliche overdrive:-/).

I agree wholeheartedly. If anyone is apprehensive about spending
thousands of dollars, a viable alternative is the Pocket Talker Pro.
I made a coil corded extension for my mike, kept the Pocket Talker
in my shirt pocket and just extended the mike on the coil cord in
the direction of who/what I wanted to hear. Cheapest "Body" aid
available..... 8^)
