| Does anyone know a site where I can compare different styles of ear molds?
I have noticed some are very thick, some hard and others flexible.
I would like to understand why one style is chosen over the other.
Thanks in advance.

| This subject is another great hearing mystery. When I mention earmolds
to my audie he seems mystified. This has been my experience in the
hearing aid world. I think we're all "lone rangers" when it comes to
figuring things out. At least that's been my experience the last 20
years.

You are just ignorant. There are many different styles of earmolds as
well as many different materials from which they are made. I have found
that for me, the standard acrylic mold was best. My audiologist tried
the softer silicone materials because I am sensitive to pressure (can't
wear a watch, e.g.), but they did not allow "breathing", even with a
vent, and I developed an ear infection where they touched. The vinyl
types developed a wierd smell. I have the Air aids from Resound now, and
the open molds feel good and allow my ears to function more or less
normally, with the addition of the high pitches I can't hear without
amplification.
I see no reason for the constant bashing of hearing aid professionals.
Sounds like some of you guys are eaten alive with envy.
Go to school and get a doctorate. Then small people will hate you, too!
A Master's in education is enough larnin' for me, though.

| I'm hardly ignorant dear Ardway. I've got a BS and have worked in a
science related field for nearly 25 years. I've had to make
suggestions regarding different earmolds to my audiologists. I think
it should be the other way around. I've also been several months ahead
on new products than the audies I visit. I often think of what I would
do different if I were an audie. I'ts not this way with other medical
professionals I visit. By the way, the rigors of a Audiology Ph.D is
not that difficult...but certainly harder than an education Ph.D

You said you didn't know about earmolds. Therefore you are ignorant. It
is not a description of your knowledge in general, just your knowledge
of earmolds.
Needn't be so touchy, dear boy.

Poke around this site and follow links to Mold manufacturers.
Lots of good information available here. Pay no mind to the
local grumps.

"Never wrestle with a pig, you'll both get dirty, and only the pig

The same advice applies to verbal wrestling with a Bloviator.
