I think that the frequency response of the receiver and of the
microphone is the limiting factor. They can't get much above 6KHz. It
has to do with the properties of the metal and the size of the little
speaker. The hearing aid digital circuit can make much higher sounds,
but with nothing capable of reproducing them.............
