Some TV's, in an effort to sound "good," have too much bass.
This muffles the sound. If one has lost some high frequencies
in their hearing the result is difficulty in understanding
speech from the TV.

The wireless headset may be a good solution (I have this problem
and a similar solution.) but I'm certain you'll be advised that
she should have her hearing tested. Perhaps she doesn't require
a formal hearing aid but it's best to know what's going on.
