Ear-molds and moisture

| It seems that my ears sweat a lot. Starting with freshly cleaned ears and
clean Lucite ear-molds my ears are quite wet and smelly in as little as 3
hours. My ears become an ideal growing place for microbes; warm and wet.
This factor, along with comfort, vanity, and sound quality have set me on a
search for alternative ear-molds. I am impressed with what the ResoundAIR
uses instead of an ear-mold, but I want to see what else is out there for
other BTE aids.
The first thing I tried was modifying a Comply Snap Tip.
http://lloydhearingaid.com/accessories/snaptips.cfm
All I did was cut off most of the foam disc. This produced a very open fit
with lots of open air beside the tip. This was pretty good in a lot of ways,
but it also smelled after two days. It seems what is left of the foam become
warms and wet.
I am currently trying the Lloyds core and tubing with the right angle bend
http://lloydhearingaid.com/accessor...reandtubing.cfm
With the extra-small mushroom insert on it.

This also produces a very open fit with lots of air around the tip. (The
extra-small inserts are only 7mm in diameter.) The smell problem is under
control, but when I take the aids off at night there is condensation inside
the tube. Do I need to worry about this? I have been taking the tube off of
the hook before putting everything in a drying jar at night.
Any comments on any of this would be helpful. Do I need to put
anti-perspirant in my ears?

| If you don't already have it, you might also look into getting a
bottle of "Ear-Gene". cleaner for both ears and HAs. There are also
some non-occlusive earmolds that have very little surface inside the
ear. But they are all targeted to high frequency loss.

| Thanks for the pointer on Ear-Gene. I will give it a try.
I should search out someone to do better ear-molds.
The stuff at edminn.com might work for me.
My loss is entirely high frequency.
