| I'd like to hear more from Don, or anyone, about the down side(s) to
stimulants too. About 4 years ago, I was taking a very low dose of
Zoloft (25 mg). The dose was very low, but I had been taking it for
about 2-3 years and it made an amazing difference.
While having my daughter diagnosed with ADHD, well, eventually I was
diagnosed too. I started taking dexedrine for my own ADHD symptoms.
It has worked wonderfully for me and I haven't upped my Rx much over
the years. Over time, I felt SO Wondeful, I eventually stopped taking
Zoloft. Okay, I didn't feel "Wonderful" I merely meant normal. But
after decades of deep, undiagnosed depression, Normal = Wonderful.
After a few life-changing events (job change, moving, death of parents,
grandparents, cat, etc) I'm deeply depressed again. I WISH I had
restarted the Zoloft at the beginning of my troubles as a prevention,
but I didn't.
Where I'm going with this is that now, I'm seeing a psychologist who
recommends resuming Zoloft. But now, if I don't take Dexedrine--just
the regular old dose--I can hardly motivate myself to do ANYTHING. I'm
in nursing school and it's so much easier to sit and study or
read...and hardly do anything else.
Btw, I never get a buzz or any kind of high off of Dexedrine, or Zoloft
for that matter. I've been told that it's b/c my brain really needs
the chemicals. <sigh> I'd really appreciate some input.
