Author Larry, I'll be busy for a while.

I have some business deals to take care of so I'll be gone for awhile.

You wanted to know my references about the Cymbalta stats. Well, I
have posted all the articles that supplied me with the numbers. Here's
a rundown anyway...

Feb 2, 2004, FDA holds a hearing on the safety of SSRIs. About 40
sets of grieving parents who lost children to these drugs spoke to the
FDA and the media. It was not a good day for the FDA.

Feb. 7, 2004, Traci Johnson, a 19 yr old university student in
Indianapolis killed herself in the washroom of an Eli Lilly lab while
participating in a "clinical trial" for Cymbalta. (The media were all
over this one!)

The first Lilly spokeperson claimed that Traci was a non suicidal,
non depressed "control" subject.
The next day, another Eli Lilly said that Traci was severely
depressed and suicidal.
A week later, another Eli Lilly spokesperson claimed that the
previous spokesperson was wrong and that the first spokesperson was
correct. He further stated that there had been no other suicides among
the 9,000 participants.

A few days later, Eli Lilly revealed that 4 others had committed
suicide... but that they were depressed and suicidal to begin with.

A few months later, the FDA approved Cymbalta, claiming that the
drug was not responsible for Traci's death.

Just recently, an Eli Lilly spokesperson claimed that there were 7
suicides among the 4,124 participants, including 2 non depressed, non
suicidal "control" subjects.... but that Cymbalta was not to blame for
any of the deaths.

STOP AND THINK LARRY....

Somewhere along the way, more than half the participants simply
disappeared. My guess is that they either quit the study or that the
drug did not have a positive effect on them, so the results of the
"trials" including them were NOT PUBLISHED.

Furthermore, all the participants took Cymbalta for only 4 weeks !
That's 7 suicides among 4,124 people taking a drug for less than a
month... and it was approved by the FDA !!! What's going to happen
when the unsuspecting public start taking Cymbalta ???

With a suicide rate of 1 per 600 in just 4 weeks... wanna bet on
the suicide rate over the next year ???

I never said that over 60% of adult women are on these drugs. I
said that over 30% of ADULT WOMEN IN UTAH are on these drugs.

It's rather simple math Larry. The guys at IMS claim that 16% of
Utah's TOTAL POPULATION is on these drugs. They also claim that about
70% of SSRI users are ADULT WOMEN.

The population of Utah is about 3 million. And adult women account
for about 25% of that so about 750,000.

16% of 3 million is... 480,000

70% of 480,000 is.... 336,000

And 336,000 is a lot more than 30% of 750,000.... so I was
lowballing my estimates.

In the rest of the USA and Canada, about 20% of adult women are on
these drugs.

I'll post some more relevant articles as I get them, but I won't
have time to play with you anymore.

p.s. Thanks for all the info. (You never noticed that I could say
anything I wanted to... and you would dig up all the relevant facts
for me.)
