Small world I was born just down the road in Dover and spent
some of my young years in Peckham London. I remember I did
a charity walk from Dover to Maidstone in the 60's. I was over
there 3 weeks ago visiting my girls and grandson. I couldn't
believe the price of ciggs there. At least I had great weather
and enjoyed my annual trip as usual, I find the drivers in the UK
soooo polite it is really refreshing. And the British Bobby's,
although they look like they're just out of nappy's, there still the
best.

Hi Jan,
I live in East Anglia, near Cambridge. Not that far from London
really. 55 miles I'd guess.

Hi Padders

It was great to get a reply so quick. Where do you actually live? (?
middle east coast)

I noticed you have been off cigs for 6 months, just a quick question, do
you still get cravings? the reason I am asking is that I still feel like
there is something missing and I also had to give up because of health
reasons (not because I really wanted to) so may be that makes it harder.
I'm 5 months off cigs (sometimes a nightmare) !!!!!

Once again I thank you so much for replying so soon as I still miss
England and love speaking with people from the UK!!!!! My family are all
Australian.

Hope you will reply.

Regards

Jan

Hi Steve

Finally got back to the Newsgroup !!!! This week has gone by so quick.

I didn't realise there were so many from UK on this group. I was brought
up in a place called Blackheath which I am sure you will have heard of. I
have relatives that live in Orpington also. However all my family over
here are Australian - still sometimes miss London though.

How long have you been off cigs? I have been off them now for over 5
months but still can't get used to it - seems weired.

Hi

It's Jan from Australia finally answering your post. I found it quite
fascinating as I was brought up in Blackheath, and all of my relatives at
that time (many many years ago) !!! all lived in South London eg
Deptford, New Cross etc.

How long have you been in Australia and how long have you been off cigs.
I'm 5 months now but still have my moments !!!!

I have never been back as we have three sons and now I have given up work
would cost a small fortune and I won't go on my own, may be one day if we
ever win x-lotto.

Regards

Jan

Oh, the other thing, I doubt if you would get anyone from Jersey on this
Group - what do you think? might write another post just directed to
people from the Channel Islands.

I lived in South London for some years, so yes, I know Blackheath
well. I am about to make a few changes which may lead to my not seeing
London for some time. I doubt I will miss it much

Well done on the 5 months.

My quit is mine, and mine alone. Should I slip or fail, the
responsibility will be entirely mine. But I take this opportunity to
thank all those kind people who have taken the time to support my
quit, and wish me well. After 27 years slowly killing myself, I quit
smoking 2 year 1 months 2 weeks 2 days ago. Since that time, 19,427
cigarettes have not been smoked, £4,128.24 has been saved, and an
extra 2 month 1 weeks is available to spend with Jodie
