This woman has some wise words...

Jo

Stop Reacting and Start Responding
by Trish Whynot, D.C.Ed.

If I could give you just one pearl of wisdom to help you make the most
of your 2005, it would be to stop reacting and to start responding. As
you learn to respond to your life experiences, you will see their
function and understand the way in which your experiences are defining
your purpose. What may have appeared random or chaotic will all of a
sudden seem incredibly orderly from this perspective.

When someone reacts to a situation, they blame the person or situation
for triggering them. We live in a blaming society, so in order to
respond to your life you must have the courage to step outside this
box. Blaming and reacting have a purpose. They help you to bring
stored emotions to the surface. When blaming and reacting are
expressed appropriately, for the purpose of getting to the root of an
issue, then they are useful. When they are expressed for the purpose
of punishing, humiliating or judging, blaming and reacting are
destructive and will make your life hard.

When responding to your life experiences, you respond to what your
life experiences are bringing to your attention and you acknowledge
that you attract your experiences. When the experiences you attract
are favorable, you can pat yourself on the back for your wonderful
creation. When you have attracted something less than desirable, you
know that you have the ability to learn from your experience and to
change, so you can change what you are attracting. You know that your
health, relationship or financial issue is not the real issue, it is
the way in which your issue is manifesting.

What if I told you that your life was a stage and the story that was
playing out on your stage was "Your Life Story?" What if the scenes
that play out on your stage are based on your beliefs about yourself
and about life and the cast of characters that play your scenes out
with you are invited by your energy?

Part 2

What if prior to being born you decided what you wanted to work on in
this lifetime and developing more wisdom and compassion were the
ultimate goals? What if you created a soul contract and made
agreements with other souls that were willing to help you with your
soul's purpose, while at the same time you would be helping them with
theirs? What if there were beliefs that you chose to work on and you
chose parents that would help you to establish these beliefs and the
pain around them as part of your learning? Then you were born and
forgot everything, but brought your blueprint with you contained in
your energy. And what if the scenes that are playing out on your stage
are constantly reminding you of the reasons why you are
here--reminding you of beliefs you came to work on healing so that you
could learn from them, not so you could master them?

I believe that the scenes that you have and will continue to attract
are all meant to help you to define your soul's purpose for being
here. From this perspective, life is very orderly. People don't just
randomly show up in your life and situations don't just
indiscriminately occur. "Your Life Story" is all being orchestrated by
your energy which is "you."

Try to picture your life from this perspective. Give it a chance and
explore its possibilities. This perspective could help you to make
sense of areas of your life that have, until now, been confusing. This
perspective will help you to see your life as the awesome adventure
that it is. The choice is yours, it always is.

Doesn't hold water where YOU knowingly and intentionally engage in
aggressive behavior to trigger a person whom you know has a bonafide
medical condtion results in their being hypersensitive and
hyperreactive and susceptible to being triggered by your outrageous
abuse.

Where did you find this? I thought it was great. I'm going to print it out
and read it to some of my clients. Some of them feel so beaten down by
their circumstances, which includes their poor decision-making. Maybe a new
perspective will help.

Thanks for posting this, Jo.

I realized later the link didn't come thru. She has a website, I got
this via her email newsletter. She often gives readings, etc in
Andover, MA at a little new-agey bookstore. Maybe do a search on her
name and see what comes up.

I've been beaten silly by a cold/virus thing today. High fever and
miserable. Have been in bed almost all day and am so achey...tylenol
isn't bringing my fever down too much. It's still over 100, which is
high for my usual baseline of 97.4. ugh.
Not fun. Back to bed for this sick puppy.

ACK!

I don't know if you are able to drink spirits, but I use whiskey and
blankets for fevers, and fresh ginger root for sore throats (grate it up in
a cup of hot water, add lemon, honey, or whiskey to flavor).

Hope you start feeling better, Jo.

Very interesting article. I've used this way of thinking with Kidlet and
his brother since they were born. Regardless of what the world does to you,
you are still solely responsible for your self. No blaming allowed.

Thanks, Pablo. Last night was not fun with a 101 temp. The temp is
mostly down today, but I'm still pretty sick.
Going back to bed soon.... I don't think I'd want to drink whiskey for
a cold! My old boyfriend Dennis used to swear by whiskey in coffee for
a cold. Or hot water with whiskey and lemon. Some fresh ginger root
sure would be nice about now, though!

I personally do believe most of this; although I don't think a person
has to buy into the whole concept of reincarnation, soul choosing, etc
in order to benefit from the basic message of what she is saying. If
you like this, you might want to check out
www.OfSpirit.com and read some of Bob Olsen's interviews with people.
They are incredible. I find that most people who poo-poo this haven't
truly experienced it for themselves.

We have tried to do the same thing, while at the same time trying to expose
and sensitize our kids to social injustices. I think both approaches can
work together.

Whiskey and blankets help sweat the fever down.

Ginger root has been used this way with great success by the Chinese for
centuries.

I hope Jake has been doing his part to nurse you to health!

Jake is amazing. He's rested with me most of the day, but managed to
convince me to let him run circles around the yard while I shovelled
the driveway for 1/2 hour. It's freezing out there!

I can barely breathe, but at least no fever today.

Buy doze erts.

Please, please be careful. Exercising like that can make you sicker. It
can go so far as to damage your heart.

So much for your light dusting! ;-) Hope you are able to stay indoors

But the game will still go one tomorrow, right? Go PATS!

We are getting plastered with lovely white stuff. 25 inches expected
by tomorrow afternoon.

Personally, I love storms. I lit candles tonight, cuddled on the bed
with Jake and listened to a wonderful CD, called "The Invitation" by
Oriah Mountain Dreamer. neat stuff...

Ventured out today and bought some lavender oil, with which I made
some sachets and sprinkled the lampshades, pillows, etc. Eucalyptus
oil for the shower.... and chinese food, for me! Hot and Sour soup
beats whiskey any day!

Tomorrow after shovelling I'll put a fire in the fireplace and make
some pumpkin bread (nothing to be jealous about, it's a pre-packaged
mix) and real hot cocoa.....maybe do some yoga.....just relax.....

Stay warm everyone!

The Pats are playing the Steelers.
The Eagles are playing the Falcons.

But no, no "Go Pats" for me. We here in Pennsylvania hope for an
all-Pennsylvania Super Bowl. Please don't muck this up for us. ;-)

Will try not to! Not like I'm in touch with the Goddess of Pigskin or
anything!
(more of a Willendorf myself )

That was one main criteria when I bought my home. I use it a lot, and
really enjoy it. I'm having some huge Old Oak trees taken down soon
(110 footers with 4 feet diameter) so I'll save a lot of the wood to
use next year.

I bet you're a good cook! Does it have broccolli in it?

Naw, yoga is not painful, if done correctly and within one's limits.
I'm fairly out of shape now (well, I have a shape, it's just not the
shape I'd prefer!) so I go pretty slow and easy.

Sounds very cozy. Someday, maybe, we will relocate and obtain a
"fireplaced" home. While I enjoy being in the heart of the city, a part of
me wants to move to a rural location with land. We come from
"earthy-crunchy" stock.

>

You'd lose the bet. I'm not the best cook (just ask the kids), but I do
have a few specialities when I'm in the mood. Pumpkin bread is one of them.
And no, no broccoli in it! ROFL!

I based the "ouch" on one yoga class I attended. I found it difficult to
move around for about a week afterwards. I suppose I did too much in that
class. I have wanted to learn Tai Chi. It's on my "to do" list.

I'm not sure how much snow we ultimately got (haven't heard yet), but we are
getting winds and drifting today. I wish we could get more snow, so it

I hear ya....I don't like cities particularly, and usually try to
avoid them.

You might look into Chi Gong, as well. Same principle, many bennies.

Massachusetts is officially "closed" due to State of Emergency.

I have a love/hate relationship with big cities. Nature and solitude help
to regain my balance.

Isn't Chi Gong affiliated with a cult? Maybe I'm thinking of something
else.

The rural areas around here are still snowed in, but the city is up and
running. I imagine there will be work tomorrow.

In terms of time, I can't afford to get sick right now since I'm juggling so
much. I hope germs, etc., understand this. Getting sick would only add to
the stress level.

I hope you start to feel better, Jo.

Welp...the Eagles are IN! The city is going nuts. Right now, your Pats are
winning. You and I may be at odds in a few weeks. ;-)

haven't the pats won yet?

Chi gong is not a cult, you're thinking of...name escapes me. Chinese
trying to outlaw it....brain warp....that's not a cult either,
government wants people to think it is, typical communist regime not
liking anyone grouping together.....

Brain is stuck on Tonglen, a forgiveness practice, not it either.
Senior moment.

hey, did I tell you I'm gonna try to let my hair grow out gray (or
white, whatever comes first!)

I've done a wee bit of checking, and I believe it's Falun Gong about which I
was thinking. From my perspective, it does seem to have cultish aspects to
it. This is just at first glance. I haven't taken the time to look into it
more deeply.

Natural is best, IMHO.

At 45, I'm still waiting for gray hair to appear. I'm hoping it starts
soon. It's about time I start looking distinguished. ;-)

I ate the wrong foods for years. It's probably the genes.

You probably don't want it now. Most of the snow is a yucky gray color now
from all the salt put on the roads, the melting, freezing, etc. I think
we're supposed to get rain this weekend. It's gonna make it even more
yucky.
