I don't know what to say, He said there is no way that I could have TS,
unless he had some records, that saying I have St. Vitis Dance could
mean anything. On my insistence he stopped the Klonipin. when I said I
want to be weaned off slowly , it wasn't necessary B/C it was a small
dosage. Renee didn't agree with him and told him so, B/C she sees me in
action. I was very calm there and no tics
He suggested I get a second opinion, either in Gainsville with a
referral or Miami I pay.

Is there a reason you want a dx's? Are the tics bothering you enough to
want meds? Was this dr a ts specialist? Afa being calm there, that is
often the case. Sometimes parents will video their kids ticcing to show the
dr. TSA can give you dr names that specialize in TS if you are interested.

I was interested in only changing my label. and getting off the Klonipin
which I will wean myself off, Renee was pissed off that all my info
meant nothing and told him so.
I can live with TS without med. I manage very nicely.
You are so sweet to always answer my post. thanks.

When I first brought my son to the neurologist for a diagnosis, the neuro
told me: yes, he has TS but why do you want to label him?
I was shocked at his question. As a parent, I needed to know what he had.
But I told the neuro that the teachers were asking questions which they
were.
I did not have good experiences with many doctors for my son.

It's a shame so many neurologists are so misinformed about TS.

I had a case where the Neurologist was giving me Haldol. Not because I needed
it, but because he was so uninformed and all that he knew was that Haldol was
used for people with TS.
BAD NEUROLOGIST CREED:
Got TS? Got Insurance? Then take two Haldol and call me in the morning.
Don't have Insurance, then don't bother calling.

I'm not always immediately aware of it when I tic. (You do realize I
used the word "talk", don't you?)

>hehe Is that

Well, no, probably not. People normally limit most of the acronyms
they use to text situations. When was the last time you saw a funny
movie and the audience was yelling "LOL!"?

More useful would be a list of health related acronyms (like ADD, OCD,
etc...). Anybody have a link? Sure would be helpful for me. I
would've posted that, too, if I had one. In fact, both would be. I
often do not understand either type of acronym. At this point in my
ast days, I do understand most of the ones used here, but far from
all.

You make a good point. However, there are probably many elderly
persons with undiagnosed TS. And maybe even many who've seen
neurologists about their symptoms who were promptly misdiagnosed.

I've never seen any info anywhere suggesting that adults with TS lose
their TS when they get older, but I would guess that the older one is,
the more likely their TS would be misdiagnosed when first presenting
their symptoms to a neurologist.

Fay's Dr wanted to know why she needed a dx....I replied probably for a
sense of well being... who wants to be in limbo?...
He felt we were attacking him... trying to prove him wrong...I guess we
were....He also said her jerks were psychosomatic.. . I disagreed with
him...
Most patients don't question their Drs... but I have a big mouth, and
love to ask questions so I can understand...and love even more to
disagree.
The first med he suggested was halidol...after Fay stated she did not
want to feel drowsey during the day...Whats with that!...Thanks for the
venting space...Renee

What is the difference between psychosomatic jerks and Tourette Syndrome?

Very interesting. After looking it up, it's clear to me that I'd
never understood the word "psychosomatic" before. I'm not sure I
clearly understand it still, but it looks to me like tics (or at least
many of them) are either psychosomatic or the reverse of
psychosomatic.
