normal to pause beating?
|

| I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this and is it
normal?
Once in a while I sense my heart take a very short pause in beating and
then start up again. The first beat after the short pause feels a little
stronger then the regular beats, and then the rest of the beats are
normal.
An example of how it would be to type it:
beat..beat..beat..[pause]..BEAT..beat..beat..
Obviously I can only tell if it happening when I'm awake.
Sometimes it occurs once a day. Sometimes never.
But there are odd times when it occurs over and over in a 30
seconds time frame (several pauses).
They usually occur at rest but have happened while walking.
What could be the causes? Any dangers

| I sometimes experience atrial fribulation. It seems to be related to alcohol
and nicotine. I did give up caffine.

Tony, I meant to reply to this before, but got sidetracked. I used to
come to this NG a few years ago, and recently checked and I notice the
NG is pretty empty now. It used to have some messages from people with
heart defects. (Maurice, are you still around these days?)
My thoughts are, if you are concerned about your heart in any way, why
don't you go to your
family doctor and see what they say about your heart concerns? If its
anything needing investigation, hee or she will refer you to a
cardiologist. Missed heart beats can mean something, or can mean
nothing, or can mean a heart murmur, or can mean anxiety in certain
situations. Not saying those things are what it means, since I don't
know. If it was me and I was concerned I would be paying the doctor a
visit.
