We have isolated in vitro fluoroquinolone-resistant mutants of the Lyme
disease agent, Borrelia burgdorferi. Mutations in parC, which encodes a
subunit of topoisomerase IV, were associated with loss of
susceptibility to sparfloxacin, moxifloxacin, and Bay-Y3118, but not
ciprofloxacin. This is the first description of fluoroquinolone
resistance in the spirochete phylum.

| Yes, there is also a published report of erythromycin resistance.
Why then do we keep hearing that there is no abx resistance found in
Bb? Why would this bacterium be different from others? They find
resistance in bacteria that have never even been exposed to a
particular antibiotic, because of horizontal transfer.

| Why do we always hear lies concerning Lyme? It's that constant push to
minimalize the impact Borrelia will and does have on our society.
By horizontal transfer I suppose you mean the exchange of genetic
material between bacterial species? I'd love to read up more on this
process.

We should also keep in mind this is in-vitro. Wont work in a test tube
it sure as hell wont work in-vivo.
FYI - The chinese are working on the synergistic effects of silver
with abx.
I cant remember which one it was, but I could find out.
