| For those who have not read my previous posts... about two weeks ago I
was scoped and the surgeon recommended Protonix to help heal the damage
to the lower esophagus. I had been on Prilosec (10 mg) for a year and a
half but really... I don't know if the damage was done before I started
that or aftewards. For the most part, I didn't have many bad days
although sometimes when I drank beer or anything hot it would burn going
down. Anyway... I've been on this Protonix for a week now and it's been
a nightmare: severe headaches (I'm taking about four Tylenols a day),
constipation, aching in the backs of my legs, and some dizziness which
seems to have passed now. My family doctor said I could switch back
until the surgeon returns from his vacation in about another week.
Should I tough it out for one more week to see if these symptoms go away
or should I throw in the towel now and switch back to the Prilosec? Like
all of you, I'm afraid of doing anymore damage and have cut out all
coffee, beer, alcohol, fatty foods and spicy foods, citrus drinks, sodas
and so forth. Surely with all of this change, I should be able to switch
back to the Prilosec BUT should I wait another week? Thanks for your help.
