Soreness in backs of legs

| Is there any relationship between taking Protonix and developing aching
in the backs of one's legs?

|
| Yes, I developed the same problem when I was on 40-80 mg protonix for a few
days in Feb. this year. I also had small and large joint pain as well as the
calf pains. It resolved when I dropped the dose and I try to keep to a
maintenance dose of 20 mg, but have to increase to 40 mg per day off and on
like today.
Look up the side-effects of your medication at www.drugs.com and
www.rxlist.com It is also listed in the patient information for the
medication - you can also check with your pharmacist. Protonix is meant to
be one of the best - perhaps you should try dropping the dose before you
drop the medication altogether. I took Nexium from Feb. 2003 to Dec. 2004
and developed real problems with it - stomach pains, headaches, general
unwell feeling (bein poisoned feeling) etc. Reacting to medicine is a very
individual thing and it is a matter of trial and error to find what is the
best for you. Tolerance or intolerance can develop over time.
All the best,
Vanny

| Thanks for that information, Vanny. I have to tell you... these past
seven days have been a real nightmare. I've been on Protonix 40 mg and
have severe headaches... soreness in the chest... soreness in the backs
of my legs... constipation... some dizziness although that has pretty
much subsided. The surgeon really wanted to switch me from the 10 mg of
Prilosec over to the Prontonix so I'm very reluctant to switch back. I
don't know if the GERD developed during my year and a half on the
Prilosec or before. All I know is that a couple of weeks ago I was
scoped and it revealed some esophageal damage. I really don't know if I
can tough out too many more days of feeling so miserable. Tonight I took
a Prilosec instead of the Protonix and so far I'm feeling pretty good.
My family doctor said I could make the substitution but again... I
really want this Protonix to work for me since I'm afraid of this
problem developing any further. Perhaps I should start another thread
about that. Thanks for the information.
