| Hello Fellow Heart Burn Support Group Members:
I met with my surgeon from UCSF and havd been told that I am a good
candidate for the surgery. I cant wait to get rid of this choking/
reflux feeling that hits me every couple of days. The Dr. was very
upfront about the sucess rate of the surgery and possible failure in
10% of the patients. Again at this point, the drugs just arent doing
it. It was intresting to see that my reflux is at its worst when I am
supine (laying flat). I am a "144"..and he said that anyone in the 100
club should consider surgery. I will keep everyone up to date as my
recovery and how it went. I really appreciate this group and the things
that I have learned from Mr. Howard. Thank you Dr. Howard.
Take care,
Mike

UCSF has one of the finest esophageal labs in the country. Dr. Larry Way is
a long time leader in esophageal surgery and has established a truly
excellent program. He taught me how to do a laparoscopic Heller
esophagomyotomy for achalasia about 10 years ago, when he was one of three
surgeons in the world doing it. Bill Campos does most of the GERD surgery at
UCSF these days, and you will be in good hands.

| Hello Dr. Howard:
Dr. Marco Patti will be doing the surgery. I hear that he is an
excellent surgeon. (Fingers Crossed)... Bill is now the Director of the
GI Surgery Unit.
