I had the barium swallow (I didnt mind the taste actually), tons of
xrays, and a series of ultrasounds...
Gallstones can give you indigestion symptoms...
I only went to the Drs that first time with pain and nausea (main
gallstone symptoms)
I NEVER had heartburn until she told me to try antacids...
They gave me heartburn...
Im very healthy otherwise, so I guess thats why the antacids irritated
me so much.
Thats why I came in here to figure out WHY I was diagnosed with gerd
when I truly didnt believe I had it since my past 4 yrs have been spent
living a loose gerd diet and lifestyle anyway.
I was right...
So basically it was losing 55+ pounds FAST in 1.5 yrs on a low carb/low
cal diet that produced gallstones...
I only have one, and its relatively small...
So its a high Calcium, high fiber, coffeed (coffee prevents Gallstones)
life for me...

BUT I will continue NOT to eat after 7:00pm...
Thats a great habit!

I have my father and dieting to thank for gallstones...

Preesi...you still didn't tell us what the plan of action is for the
gallstone. I thought that was a simple question I asked you...Pete

Join the crowd. I, too, have gallstones (tho mine are quiet), which
may have started when I went on a low carb diet. My GERD started after
that too, though it is clearly GERD, since the meds do control the
symptoms.

Likely the Dr will want you to have your gallbladder removed - don't
agree to this blindly. Do some research on the possible side effects
(I know people that can't eat any kind of fat unless they're *really*
near a bathroom, after having their gallbladder removed. Others have
no problems at all), and the other options. Options should vary
according to the size and number of stones you have.

There's a lot of information on the internet, and lots of women over 40
have stones - I think my dr said something like 80% - though many don't
know it unless they're getting an ultrasound for something else (like
me).

I'm not completely ignoring my gallbladder issues - I try to eat a
high-fiber diet, and drink lots of water, in an effort to keep my
stones silent. I do NOT want to go through the sort of agony my mother
went through when she finally had a full-blown gallstone attack!

There's no special diet for people who have their gallbladder out, and
people who have anything more than a transient problem with diarrhea are a
distinct minority. Side effects from cholecystectomy are very, very rare.
The number and size of gallstones has nothing to do with the likelihood of a
gallbladder "attack".Asymptomatic gallstones

This is the kind of crap that makes the internet such a dangerous place to
get medical advice. No offense meant. A high-fiber diet will have nothing to
do with the gallbladder, nor will water intake. A low fat diet may help to
prevent acute cholecystitis, but once they start causing symptoms, an acute
attack is imminent.

Ditto. I always say the following - It is very dangerous to believe what
you read on the Internet without being an informed reader. You have to be
intelligent enough to know whether the source is reliable and credible [for
instance something published by the NIH would
hopefully be credible - can't promise it though :-)]...Pete

My gallstone was detected in 2002 at which time it was 1.8 cm. It is now 2.2
cm and I had my first colic attack in Jan. this year. At the same time my
GERD went completely out of control, I increased the protonix to 80 mg a day
and ended up with severe side-effects (joint pains - www.drugs.com ).

I guess that I have had the stone since at least 1993 and in all that time
it was silent except for the last couple of years in which I have had the
odd twinge.

Not much offense taken I'm not sure I got that advice from the
Internet; if I got it from my GP here it wouldn't be the first bad
advice I've received from that office. Wherever I got the information,
I cannot remember the justification now, just that it made sense at the
time. High fiber and sufficient water is generally good advice anyway,
eh?

At any rate, haven't had an attack and figured it was my diet I do
keep to low fat, and keep the fat as un-saturated and un- trans as
possible.

D'ya know if there's any true relationship between low-carb diets and
formation of stones? I've seen where a few people (myself possibly
included) have been diagnosed with gallstones after changing to a low
carb diet (which, incidentally, I hate but my body seems to like -
'cept possibly for the stones). Not sure if this is causative though,
or just coincidence, since there's supposedly such a large percentage
of women over 40 with stones.

And, as far as the side effects, I've had conversations with more than
one person that developed problems after having their gallbladder
removed. A couple I know personally; a couple more worked in the same
building I did but I knew them only on the company intranet. So, I'd
have to respectfully disagree that side effects are "very, very" rare.
All the people I know who've had problems are women; don't know why
that would be tho.

At any rate, I don't believe that one should have their gallbladder out
just because it has stones (no, I know you didn't say that, but I
understand that it's a common sentiment with both US and UK doctors);
my UK GP thinks so - "eventually you WILL have an attack" - but my US
Doctor disagrees, *as long as the stones remain "silent"*. The
gallbladder isn't an appendix, after all, it's a working structure and
does have a purpose, so it seems reasonable to me that though most
people can live without it, some would have problems.

Incidentally, I've also seen the comment that people's GERD symptoms
(which were being treated) went away after having their gallbladder
removed. (just to stay more or less on topic)... Howard, I'd be
interested if you have any comment on this, since it might have direct
bearing on my personal situation (having both stones and reflux).

Anyway, I do appreciate your comments, Howard, and do agree that the
Internet is a dangerous place to *rely on*. It's a good place to use
for research though, to be able to ask more informed questions of your
doctor, who of course should have final say on any treatment plan.

Gallstones - solid deposits of cholesterol or calcium salts that form
in your gallbladder or nearby bile ducts.
Indigestion is one of the symptoms of Gallstone.
but it can also haapen due to Heart burn.
http://www.medical-health-dictionar.../Gallstones.asp
you can eliminate or reduce the frequency of heart burn by changing
your lifestyle like-
Control your weight,Eat smaller, more frequent meals, Eliminate
heartburn triggers like fatty or fried food, Don't lie down after a
meal just walk for a while. etc.
you can gather complete detail about heart burn from the link below:-

If problem persists then you can take medicine also. there are various
medicines for heartburn like Nexium | Prevacid, Prilosec, Aciphex,
