Why is inclining the bed recommended for those with LPR ? Most of the
literature I have read says that LPR is characterised by predominantly
upright reflux , therefore this advice is a bit confusing.

A certain percentage of people, maybe 20%, will have reflux due to low
resting pressure of the lower esophageal sphincter, and when they lie flat,
gravity can allow stomach contents to more easily get into the esophagus.
Inclining the head of the bed is part of the folklore of GERD treatment.
