Just so you know, I read an article a few mos. ago that Splenda is
getting a bad reputation for giving ppl the shits cuz companies wanna
use the Splenda logo, but dont wanna use all Splenda in the products cuz
pound for pound, Splenda is about 1000 times more expensive than sugar
alcohols--so they use a tiny bit of Splenda so they can get the logo on
the package, and the rest sugar alcohols that are the culprits
responsible for giving you a bad case of bathroom rushes! All in all,
they figure that the cost of a package of something like one candy bar
or even a single package of your s/f Mentos would go up something like
20% if all Splenda were used since it is considerably lighter than sugar
or sugar alcohols, so the pound for pound price comparison is flawed,
but the cheap companies just want the logo to get the buyers trust, and
leave them thinking they are gonna pass wind and accidentally filling
there pants instead.
One more case of corporate greed, or corporate lies...I dont know which
or both apply here most. Youd think that the Splenda ppl wouldnt want
to end up with that kinda rep to overcome, and they COULD prevent this
by requiring that no sugar alcohols be used with the Splenda logo on the
package, or limiting the use of sugar alcohols to no more than 10% of
the sweetner used, but they dont.
Its amazing just how ridiculous this whole situation has become. Just
READ YOUR LABELS. If it sez "Splenda" or has the logo, still check the
label for sugar alcohols, and if the label shows them, DO NOT BUY, or at
the very least, do not eat very much of it unless you are looking for
that outta control feeling in your bowels!
Sorry, I cant find the article....I read it in print and cant find it
online at all, and dont remember which print media I found it in.
