Mold exposure and symtpoms...out of US

| I have bene out of the US for about 3 weeks. I rented an apartment
and me and 3 friends have exhibirted allergy like symptoms- stuffy
nose, coughing, wheezing, etc. I have been using an Advair inhaler,
attributing it to allergies here (it is summer here). Then, it
occurred to me. Since I rarely (3 times in 5 yrs) suffer from
allergies and all of us had similar symptoms, that there was a water
stain in my bedroom. Immediately, I thought of mold. Though there are
no visible signs of mold, who knows what is under the water damage
(which could have occurred any time, it is no longer wet).
- I am using Advair and Abuterol inhalers. Is there anything else I
should be taking? Note: going to a doctor is not much of an option
with the language barrier and I only have 5 days left here. I do have
access to any prescription I need.
-I have cordoned off the room and opened all windows (previously
windows always closed, a/c running). I don't plan on sleeping in or
entering that room. How long would/could these symptoms persist if
exposure was removed or severely diminished? They probably started 2
weeks ago and got much worse in the last week. I have had 3 weeks
exposure in total.
-Since I was the primary one sleeping in the suspect room, I have had
the worst symptoms by far, further fortifying my assumption on the
mold.

In spite of all the current concern about molds, I'll bet your problem is
house dust, the most serious component of which is dust mite sheddings and
feces. This is a common problem in old places, particularly bedrooms, which
have had poor housekeeping for many years.
My introduction to the world of allergy was in such circumstances many years
ago while living a nomadic life. At the time, I rolled the carpet up
against the wall with considerable relief. Hopefully, your departure in
five days will provide a speedy return to normal.
