I have an allergy to a dog I share a house with. I figure my clothes
are getting contaminated through the washer/dryer. How do I clean the
clothes to get rid of the allergens? Is laundering them twice in a
machine free of dog allergens enough? Should I send them to a
professional cleaning service?

Don't know if this works for dog allergens, but....
I have a fragrance allergy. I wash my clothes normally, then I rewash them
(wash and rinse) with 1/4 cup of baking soda. You can buy large bags of
baking soda at Sams club or Costco pretty cheap. For your dog allergens, I
think washing them twice might work. I itch like the dickens if I wear
clothing that has not been washed twice.
