Just sitting here watching PBR with hubby and something came up that
reminded me of a post someone had made (don't remember who) that they had an
argument with their sister I believe about there being an actual bull named
Fu Manchu in reference to Tim McGraw's song. Anyway, I don't remember who
was arguing saying Fu Manchu was fictitious, but I just saw the bull (Fu
Manchu) buck off a rider and the commentators just happened to mention how
mean of a bull he was and that was the reason Tim put him in his song about
riding him for 2.7 seconds. Just a trivial post, but....

Well, I'll be dipped. Another PBR fan. I went to a bull riding event
locally (two tiers down, but still PBR sanctioned) Friday night and it was
a blast.

Someday, someday, someday, I'll make it to a PBR Built Ford Tough Series
event

When you posted that I went back and saw it was you who had the argument
with your sister. Even though it's been a while now since it happened,
here's some info you can pass along to her and make you feel better. LOL

Bulls in the PBR can have the same name with no relation to each other or
owned by the same people. For instance, at one time there were 4-5 bulls
named Zorro who were not kin and not owned by the same people. So she was
wrong about that.

Second, the bull Fu Man Chu, while real and the one Tim McGraw wrote about
in his song, was never ridden by Tug McGraw, even though the song is
dedicated to him by Tim. I'm not sure if it was an actual issue that Tug
rode the bull for 2.7 seconds, but he never rode a bull, Fu Man Chu or
otherwise, in case you were interested since it was mentioned in your
original post. By the way, there are two bulls named Fu Man Chu in the PBR
right now, no kin. One has been ridden 2 out of 12 times. The other has not
been ridden at all yet. (He must be brand new).

Anyway, the song was written by a guy from MO before it was even known that
it would be Tim singing it. He and a friend brainstormed about what they
would do if faced with dying. Tim read it, liked it because Tug had died or
was dying (don't remember what it said the timeline was). Anyway, Tim has
ridden bulls, but Stephen Nichols (writer) didn't know that at the time and
it wouldn't have mattered as it was already finished when Tim got the offer
to record the song. Here is a nice story about the song and writer.

Oh, just for reference's sake here's the link to prove there can be more
than one bull with the same name who are not kin at the same time in the
PBR:

http://www.pbrnow.com/ridersbulls/search/

Just for fun, type in Full Throttle in Bull Name and see how many there are.

Dani (sleuthing when I should be working) For someone who isn't bored and
has a ton of work to do, it's nice to have something to do on my down time
even if it is trivial. Thanks, Becky. LOL

Well this is basically what I told her, but I liked it better when I
couldn't google any Fu Manchu.

Strengthened my position.

She was saying that if one bull had the name Fu Manchu, NO OTHER BULL could
EVER be named that. I asked just which governing body policed that, and she
said, "Oh, you know....."

I used as an example how very many "Black Tie Affair" horses are shown here.
There's one in every show barn. Not his registered name, just his "show
name" and certainly not the original.

LOL, well, now you can direct her to the actual PBR website and show for
yourself that there are bulls with the same name currently, in the past, and
there will be in the future. Like I said, there are two Fu Man Chu's right
now, three Full Throttles, etc.
