My friend recently plugged in his computer, which he hasn't used for
some time, and we found that it was absolutely loaded with spyware and
viruses. He's run Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, and AVG multiple (and I DO mean
multiple!) times, and they pick up and get rid of new stuff each time.
He's also used CWShredder to get rid of Cool Web Search. However, now
he's getting an error message stating "error loading boln.dll". Can
anyone direct me to someplace that can help us get rid of this problem?
Most of the info I'm finding is so far over my head, I'm just clueless.

He's running WinXP Pro, if that's of any help at all.

Thanks!

Anne

4. To delete the value from the registry

Click Start > Run.
Type regedit

Then click OK.

Navigate to the subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

In the right pane, delete the value:

"Systems Restart" = "Rundll32.exe boln.dll,DllRegisterServer"

Navigate to the subkeys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\toolbar

In the right pane, delete the value:

"CLSID" = "{B75F75B8-93F3-429D-FF34-660B206D897A}"

Navigate to the subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

In the right pane, delete the key:

"Browser Helper Objects" = "{B75F75B8-93F3-429D-FF34-660B206D897A}"

Navigate to and delete the subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Best
Search Engine!!!

Exit the Registry Editor.

It worked, Dani; thanks again! There were a couple of values and
subkeys I couldn't find, even by searching the registry, but I deleted
those that I did find, and it worked. Muchas gracias!
