Author lap chole question

OK. You guys who've had lap chole... I had mine on Tuesday. Had liver
biopsy as well. I've had several major abdominal surgeries and NONE of them
have had me hurting like I do with this.

I'm actually crying.... and I'm not a baby!! The pain isn't so bad it
brings the tears, just the feeling like crud is likely doing that. I can't
seem to get a big enough breath... not short of breath per se, but like I
can't seem to get my diaphragm to expand enough.

I keep telling myself that I'm an official member of the Weeble club, but
right now, I feel more like Humpty Dumpty.....

Bambi, I had a lap chole and my SIL had a lap chole. The pain from that is
not really that bad. Your pain, I am guessing is from the liver biopsy.
That is a very painful procedure by itself. They did a lot of digging and
exploring in there. I know with my gallbladder surgery, i had some pain
which they explained was because they had to move a whole lot of stuff out
of the way to access the gallbladder. You got a double whammy with your
procedure.

I wish I could help you cause I'm sure it hurts

I thought I would never sleep on my stomach again or ever be able to
stretch again after mine. I had a very difficult recovery period but they
attributed a lot of that to my being 5'9" and under 97 pounds when I had it
done because I was given an incorrect diagnosis for MONTHS. I was so weak
when I had it done and so dehydrated that they knew my recovery would be
long. I was in the hospital for about 4-5 days after my surgery. I
remember trying so hard to blow that stupid bubble up in that lung capacity
thingamabob and being so mad at my now DH and mom for making it look so
easy. I felt like I couldn't catch my breath but couldn't get enough air
in to fill my lungs. It was awful. I couldn't hardly stand up straight
for about 10-12 days after my surgery. Of course, I know of a few who have
had lap chole as an outpatient (I am so disgusted by even the though of it)
and have been fine and completely back to normal a day or two later. One,
that I know of, had a lap chole as an outpatient, went home, went to sleep
and died in her sleep of "unforseen complications". Unforseen?? They
didn't have her there long enough IMO to even see whether she was closed up
tight enough. Disgusted about that whole situation now, though.

Sorry you're in pain. But if you're that uncomfortable and they didn't
warn you of it, at least call the doctor. Not everyone "feels" pain the
same apparently, but don't take any chances and find out later you
should have been seen.

I really didn't have much discomfort with my gallbladder removal (also
laparoscopy). Definitely didn't need to use any pain relievers. Of
course, they didn't mess with my liver. I have had a PE (actually a
whole bunch of little clots) following a DVT. I didn't know I had clots
in the lungs the first couple of days although I had some minor symptoms
especially a lot of periodic coughing (by the way, I was at the doctor's
getting treated for the DVTs during that time period and he didn't
notice anything during his exam). The day I had the big attack, I had
some trouble breathing. Well, I could breathe or I wouldn't be here,
but I didn't have enough breath to talk for a while (a brief time). A
couple of times there was massive chest pain that went right through my
body to the back. Since these symptoms would come and go, I didn't know
whether to call a doctor or what. My husband did call my doctor who
told me to go to the ER, so my daughter drove me there. I only had one
minor spell again on the way to the ER. I have heard of other people
with PEs who really haven't had much in the way of symptoms, so that's
why I brought this up.

I had the same type pains when I was in the hospital for 6 days with
pneumonia.

My youngest daughter has had pneumonia a few times due to asthma. She's
a little different in her symptoms too. All of a sudden, bang, she gets
chest pain. With her and her asthma though, it is hard to tell what is
coming from the asthma (like the wheezing) and what's not due to the asthma.

Did your pneumonia come on slow or did it knock you down fast?

Felt fine in the morning, even went swimming. By 3 p.m., 104 temp, and
really, really sick.
