The destruction of my kitchen began on Monday. Oh Lord, the noise!
It was bad enough when there was a door between my office and the noise, but
that was permanently removed yesterday and I got to hear it all today. I
don't know what was worse, the noise of the compressor being used to drive
nails into the subfloor, or the two electricians, one in the kitchen and the
other in the attic, yelling stuff to one another. BTW, what the
electricians found was scary - the previous owner, in the process of
finishing off the attic for his office, had spliced wires together, wrapped
them with electrician's tape, and shoved them between the floor boards and
the insulation, right above our dining room. It took two electricians
working 14 hours to bring the whole house up to code. Our contractor had
allotted $500 for the electrical portion of the project...any guesses on how
much over our original estimate this is gonna put us? Here's a link to
pictures showing the progress of the project to date. Next week ought to be
a humdinger as the floor guys are coming to install hardwood floors on the
kitchen, DR and LR. Pray for me!
