Sandi,

I guess what I was trying to say with the WASPS statement, or
stereotype, is that I am a WASP and when I talk about how I was raised,
and the truth of what white men in power and the entitlement they feel,
I do not feel that I am making prejudiced remarks. Every group has
inside jokes, etc. I may be wrong, but my feeling is that many of the
posters on SMT are WASPs or WASs, so there is no real need to defend
this minority or majority or stereotype.

For example, If a Jew, Muslim, Black posted a disparaging remark about
a WASP, I probably would validate or invalidate it based on my
experience, I am not sure that I would jump to run down WASPs for what
is wrong with the world, but for not promoting blacks and trying to
keep them in the back of the bus, I would agree there was a problem. I
witnessed it first hand. I may be missing a lot of BLATANT prejudicial
remarks that I should be catching just because I look at this more on
an individual basis, than as a minority or majority whatever the case
may be.

I haven't read to see if Susan has a response that she is angry with
all Christians and I will try to watch for more prejudicial remarks.
This is one reason that I stay out of religious discussions because I
hold myself only to my own standards and don't worry what others do
with theirs, as long as they don't try and legislate mine.

Sandi,

I finally got Susan's post about all the Christians she has known being
bad and her experience with wonderful people in the Jewish faith and
their honesty.

So I take back some of my statements. I do believe that her brush was
way too broad. Likewise, she is mistaken about all Jews being honest
and true to their faith, etc. I walk in both worlds. There are many
Jews (although the percentage is probably less) who would fall in line
with the crimes she has attributed to the bad Christians she has met.

I hope that Susan heals her heart and takes your post in about how
there are good and bad in politics, religion, race, sex.

I have see my other posts, I'm working on it. I've had a bad history. It is
something I'm working on.

I have tried to word this in a way that does not sound condescending but I
still think it does, even though I DO NOT mean for it to.

I wish you well with that, I really do. Holding on to anger and hatred
really will do a number on _you_ in the long run. I held onto some anger
for a very long time and it nearly ruined "me" and it took me a long time
to "get back to who I was". I hope this makes sense to you and doesn't
sound condescending becuase, like I said, it isn't meant to be at all.

It is not in the least bit condescending and I know exactly what you mean.
I really don't get angry and it only flares up when I discuss it and then it
is gone. It tends to be a "healthy" anger (if there is such a thing) now.
I confront it and the people involved head on now and that is helpful. But
yes, I know exactly what you mean. Anger lets them control you on a daily
basis and I don't want that. I just avoid the situation (going to the
churches or seeing those involved) completely right now, which I suppose is
sad but I'm just not too trusting of it right now. Like I said, I've found
peace elsewhere.

I had a dear friend who was so badly burned by a "shepherding church"
(It evidently had a Christian focus, but it was almost cultic in nature
-- they told you where to leave, told you how to live your life, etc.)
that he was too afraid to ever step foot in a church again for the rest
of his life, although he never lost his faith.
