I heard this yesterday morning and remember just how much fun I had watching
Pat Morita in Sanford and Son, Happy Days, and then in the Karate Kid
movies. I never realized he was nominated for an Oscar for Mr. Miyagi
though. He sure did a good job and will be missed.

He had a hard time of it, contracting spinal tuberculosis and then being in
a WWII internment camp in CA. Amazing that the man went from fruit picker to
data processor to comic. He didn't even really have a Japanese accent
considering he was born in CA from what I read. He didn't even have a
believable accent until he started making movies.

Anyway, he was a fine comic and actor who left a wife and three daughters
and I will sure miss any future work he may have done.
