new DS4000 on the blink!

| Hi all!
About 2 weeks ago, I finally convinced my 2 docs to go "digital." We bought
two Olympus DS-4000 recorders and the software, footpedal to go with.
One doc comes into my office yesterday morning saying "this thing is shot...i
think it got zapped or something. I guess I'm back to tapes!"
When I looked at the recorder, the display screen is all lit up, like a digital
clock that shows AM/PM 8:88 ??? He says that he set the unit in the cradle
normally and downloaded his voice files as usual. Next, he put his palm pilot
in it's cradle and "hot sync'd" it. When he looked back at the Olympus, it had
the crazy display and would not function.
Sounds like some kind of electrostatic event happened here. Has anyone ever
had this happen??
Meanwhile, I have a call in to my nearest Olympus dealer. (we bought the
equipment from officedirect.com.
Thanks for any input!!

Cathy,
I don't have your answer, but after you get all the bugs worked out, I would
like to know how you like the 4000 because I am thinking of upgrading for one
doctor. The DS3000 doesn't have the cradle.

| Cathy,
You might have him try a "reset" by removing the batteries, waiting a
minute, then reinserting them. Might work.
