Author Christmas songs on the radio already -ugh

Does this really irk anyone else? There was a Philly radio station this weekend
that played all Christmas music. This morning on another channel more Christmas
music. I think they are ruining it by starting so early. I believe Chrsitmas
activity should start after the "official kick-off" which is the Thanksgiving
Day parade. I'm 52 now but when I was a kid, you never saw Christmas stuff
until after Thanksgiving. I loved going downtown (Pittsburgh) the day after
Thanksgiving to see all the decorations. By the time Christmas comes now, I'm
tired of all the lights and cute little singing santas and can't wait for it to
be over.

While I, of course, could do without it completely for obvious
reasons <VBG>, I've noticed that they have Xmas Muzak tunes
infesting most of the major department stores in this area already.
One of the stores at which I shop also has one of those 6' tall
musical snowmen that starts up singing when the motion detector
senses anyone's approach. I asked one of the clerks if she was
ready to throw it out the door yet, and she said she was ready an
hour after the management set it up. Imagine having to listen to it
all day long, day after day. Kinda like one of those "singing
trout" wall plaques...

OTOH, I've toyed with the idea of setting up a huge Hanukkah menorah
in front of my house. Something along the line of what Tim would
build on Home Improvements -- Being a "guy thing", it'd have to use
nine of the largest welding torches known to mankind mounted on a
steel menorah made 2" pipes... More likely, though, I'll settle
for the usual candle holder in my front window...

ARRGH. The hardware store we go to in VA has a door alarm like that. Plays part
of Jingle Bells INCESSANTLY everytime the door opens.

I love Christmas music too. One of our channels started playing it a week
or two ago. Very nice!

I love Christmas music during December, not November. I enjoy it the most the
week of Christmas...really helps set the mood.

That would depend on the family's affiliation and customs. You'll have
to ask the parents there.

AFA the spelling -- we can't make up our minds either. :-) Since its
transliterated from Hebrew, there are a bunch of variant spellings that
are acceptable.

Go for it, but be sure to take pictures for the rest of us wimps who have to
get by with a single candle in the window.

The Christmas music doesn't bother me, I could listen to it all year long!
However, this morning the bank clerk brightly asked me if I was ready for
Christmas yet. That question is almost as annoying (especially BEFORE
Thanksgiving) as being asked, when you're nine months pregnant, "When are
you due?"

Barbara, they had holiday trimmings up in the garden section of our local
Wal-Mart before Halloween.

I've pared down my shopping list so much that I only have two more presents to
get and I'll be done! Zero down, two to go.

Or your kids who keep telling you "Christmas is almost here." I could pull
mine and their hair out. LOL
