Wife does medical transcription at home full time along with her other
full-time duties. Then she gets swapped. New "wife" who happens to
sell cars has to do the transcription. Then in the second week,
redneck pig husband has to do the transcription....

Just goes to show you that "anyone" can do medical transcription
without any training...... (NOT!)

I saw it. I liked that they showed the reaction of the people who tried
to do her transcription. While I did get the impression that anyone
could *try* MT, the reactions of the other wife and the husband
definitely showed that not anyone can *be* an MT.

I saw it too and I have to say...I was wonderin' how long it might take HIPAA
enforcers to catch on to that. LOL. I never heard them say medical
transcription, but I did see that screenshot of what was being typed and that
appeared to be medical related.

If you check MTDesk, there are two extensive threads on this,
including lots of posts from Dawn, the MT on the show. Look in the
Hot Zone and Off Topic. As far as HIPAA, Dawn explains that what she
did was to compose some phony medical reports out of her own head, and
they were dictated by one of the show's people. So, what you saw on
the screen was not anybody's PHI.

Interesting reading.

I think at the beginning of the show when they were showing what the
wives did (before the actual swap took place, they said (whatever her
name was) did medical transcription. My interest perked up then
because I was wondering if they would make the alternate wife and
husband try it.

And I hope the doctors for whom she typed were in on the joke...
