Need help installing TNR font in WP5.1+

| Has anyone here done this. I'm trying to follow the directions at the
Columbia.edu site, but it's not sinking it. If anyone has any tips to
offer, I sure would be grateful.

| Pam
I faintly remember something about installing fonts on WP51 but I don't know
why you need to. I have TNR scalable fonts that are just there when I use my HP
Laserjet 4 printer driver. They translate if opening in Word. Other printer
drivers also have that and similar fonts.

Rae,
It doesn't work this way for me and I wish that it did.
It has been so long ago that I do not remember how to do this, but I sure wish
that I had NTR in my 5.1, if you do figure it out Pam, please let me know.
Seems like I emailed myself a document that was typed in that font and then
saved the document and wrote a macro to get into that document and rename it
every time I wanted to use Arial. I guess I can try it with NTR and see if
that works.

| LOL. Janice it was remembering a post of YOURS on SMT that made me even
think of doing this.
After a couple of hours of sleep I was able to follow the directions in the
link I posted above to convert and get the fonts where I need them. I think
I have to set up my 5.1 for a printer to make it work - never printed from
the 5.1 end of my setup. I can help you with what I've done so far if you
have trouble with the directions at the Columbia site (I'm probably the only
one who can't follow directions).
If I take another nap, maybe I can figure out the printer stuff.

| Pam,
Well, what I have been doing because I am just plain lazy, is that I type in
5.1 and open in 9, 10, 11, cannot remember which one, convert to NTR12 and then
print. I save it in the higher number WP and since it is WPWin all the fonts
are there.
I will try and download them to 5.1 because it would save me some time I guess.
Of course, I am usually multitasking while I am doing the conversion, so it
doesn't really bother me too much.

| In my WP5.1 it's called CG Times. Is this the same as TNR?

Are you using WP51+ (the + may be important)? Of coures maybe I did something
long ago that made the fonts possible, but they just show up based on what
printer driver is selected. Wouldn't matter if I actually had the printer long
as I didn't have to print it.

Close. What printer definition are you using. I think that is what it is called
under my HP ink jet printer definition.

Really? Do you want a brand new toner cartridge dirt cheap? I've got one DH got
from work after the printers were all gone.

Yes, I am using the +. I don't print much, but even when I do something for
myself, I just do not like Courier 10, so end up opening it in a higher WP to
get all the fonts I need.

What printer is it? That is the problem I'd think. Older printer might not
allow that font and you'd have to select a driver for a printer you are not
using and then still open into a windows program to print.

| HP Laserjet3. Maybe I will monkey around selecting other printer settings to
see if I can default to one that has it.
Thanks for the suggestion.

That's it. The Laserjet III does not (I don't think) have a TR font. If you
have original installation disks, go to printers (Shift F7) and select new
printers. Should either take you to directory they are in or get to new
installation. I can send you the driver I think or if you go to this site:
http://www.columbia.edu/~em36/wpdos/
You can Download a newer driver and that should let you select multiple
scalable fonts easily.
