Double ovens are a godsend for the holidays. I have an old old old six
burner stove with double ovens. Ahh, they just dont make appliances like
that any more (at least not for less than $3k) I have another four burner
stove with an oven in the basement that we use all the time for the holidays
and is wonderful to have in the summer so you dont heat the entire house up
and still can eat like normal people.

And the lazy susans are great to have for that dead space like someone else
said. Our cabinets are like big dark caves in the corners so a lot of stuff
gets lost and/or forgotten in their. It's like a treasure hunt when you
decide to look in the corners.

Oh and get an undermounted sink if you can. No more gunk sitting around the
sink.

Oh, and most important - Lighting!! Make sure you get a lot of pot lights
around the kitchen so you have a lot of directional lighting. Dont just get
a fixture in the middle of your kitchen work area. Nothing like working in
shadows all day.

Also, think about cabinet hardware. The flush mount cabinet doors are
great, but I did have some difficulty with them when I have some MS flares
and grasp difficulties. I'm definitely getting handles on my next ones.
And not knobs cause you have to be able to grasp those.

Oh and one more thing. Ceramic tile in a kitchen can get awful slippery not
to mention you will basically break whatever you drop on it especially if
you have grandkids. If you do decide to go with ceramic tile and grout for
your floor or even counter tops, get them sealed properly and try to go for
some other grout color other than white. You will be forever battling
keeping it white. Try to settle for some other earthy color so that as it
gets stained or discolored it still looks natural.

Maureen ---- dreaming of someday when we can move our remodel from the
basement to the upstairs.
