Author teeth extraction
scared

Just backed out of an extraction of a tooth from the bottom left hand
side of my mouth (near the middle)

The reason i backed out was i was so scared, the dentist injected the
drugs, waited for every thing to go numb then as he was pushing on the
tooth i started to panic and asked for a rest, on the second attempt i
backed out nearly immediately.

I have an abscess under the tooth which created pain every time i put
any pressure on the tooth, so i have been eating on the other side of my
mouth

I also take sodium phenytoin, and need to eat regularly every 6 hours to
keep my blood sugar level.

The dentist is recommending I consider IV sedaion.

Is this possible with my tablets and also the fact that I need to eat
regularly

How can I clear the abscess under the tooth and, if I manage to clear
the abscess will the pain be less if I try the extraction again.

Thanks

Ask your physician. General anesthesia is out of the question if you
can't go without food for a minimum of 6 hrs. Sedation MAY be acceptable.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, why not use nitrous
oxide? Or am I the only one it works for?

Govt is an insult to human dignity. With or without govt,
you would have good people doing good things and evil
people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil
things, that takes govt. Govt is the root of all evil.

I agree with Dr. B. You need a medical consult with your physician
first regarding your epilepsy(sodium phenytoin for seizure, correct?)
and sugar level. I would refer you to an Oral Surgeon for the
extraction under genreal, with your physician's approval.

Been thinking some more about this. The dentist kept asking if my lips
were numb, and i said only around the edge and the tip of my tough.
Strangle approx 1.5 hours after the injection my bottom lip was
completely numb. Could this have been a delayed reaction ?? possibly
caused by my medication, or am i just pulling as straws here ?

Any tips about the abscess ?

Thanks

Antibiotics will take care of the abscess, in addition to the
extraction. The antibiotics will need to be taken prior to your
extraction and after as well.

The abscess could be interferring with the local anesthetics because of
the low PH inside the abscess. This is why antibiotics should be taken
prior the the procedure to get it under control.
