| I have been going to a Cerac dentist for the past 4 years. He has done
a LOT of root canals, posts and crowns. I am starting to wonder if he
is being a bit too aggressive, and there are other more conservative
things he could do. On one of my teeth, I had a root canal, post and
crown that was done by a different dentist. The tooth does not bother
me at all. Well, he says that I need to have this tooth extracted, and
eventually have a dental implant put in. He says that he sees bone loss
in the x-rays, where the post goes in. I don't see any reason to have
this tooth extracted, as it doesn't bother me at all, and for the time
being, it is very firm. It is my last molar, on the upper right hand
side, and I need it to chew. What is the worst thing that could happen
if I choose not to get this tooth extracted? Does the bone loss
continue? Can I just wait and see if it starts to bother me down the
road? Its only about 4.5 years old. I had it done by another dentist,
right before I started seeing this one.

Get a second opinion before doing any further restorative treatment.
