I did better than you. We had central heat, all-electric kitchen and
indoor plumbing, but no TV, and you had to go downtown to the Hudson's
department store to experience air conditioning. I remember all of us kids
sitting in a semicircle in the living room and staring at the radio while we
enjoyed the Lone Ranger, Red Skelton, Amos & Andy and the rest of the great
radio they had back then. The pictures were in our head, but we could see them
just fine.
Back then, almost everbody had all electric kitchen appliances because
Detroit Edison would come out and fix them for free. They would even replace
burned out light bulbs to be sure you used the maximum amount of their "juice".

For me, many things were different, yet many other things were pretty much
the same as today.
