Hi
I don't know too much about root canal etc. but I did meet a guy this
year called Dr Thomas E Levy who told me never to have a root canal
filling as they can become toxic, he also recommended vitamin C
therapy as it bolsters the immune system to fight off infections and
produce collagen for wound healing. He recommended a non acidic form
(sodium ascorbate) as opposed to ascorbic acid (as the acidity can
erode enamel).

do a search in google for vitamin c therapy dentists

Regards
Steve
