| I've stumbled across this board and am very happy to have. I have very
bad malocclusion, my upper cuspids are a bit "fang'ish" if you can
picture it! My dentist has said that he'd have to remove all my 4's
in each quad (international system) and then go with brackets and
wires. But I'm wondering if I could have the cuspids taken out and
then the brackets and wires put on. Can you guys picture it?

Every case is different. However, usually removing the canines is a
bad idea. They are usually on the corners of the arch, and
significantly influence facial profile. Furthermore, upper canines have
the longest roots of any tooth in the mouth, and generally are more
important--esp. later in life if periodontal disease is present.
Hopefully one of the orthodontists will comment further.
