Of course, there is no particular reason to "under eat".
The two of us always celebrate this day at my father's house, thankful
that he and his wife are still alive and able, yet mindfull that there are only
a finite (but unknown) number of these occasions remaining in our future.
Out at the airport threre are several resident Sandhill cranes
http://www.michiganaudubon.org/bakersanctuary/crane.htm that entertain us with
their mating dances. They come up to the terminal building and beg for handouts
by tapping on the glass doors with their bills, while teaching their chicks to
do the same. I always think that they would hide from us about this time of
year if they understood their resembelence to another bird species.
My heart goes out to all of you turkeys out there. For you, this is truly
a bad day.
