> didja get the hood down??

Heheheeeee... oh shit.
Yesterday: I tied the damn thing down a telephone cord.
Today: Driving on the way to get it fixed, I heard a pop!!
Pull over to a parking lot, look at the cable thing under the dash, it
popped back in!
Get out of the car, push the hood down, it stayed shut!!
Whew and whoopeee!
Something went right in my day!!
It was time to thank the Universe.
Ya know how it is with old cars, it's just one thing after the other. Hope
I can hold onto it for another few years. It only has 46,000 miles on it.

Thank your friends here, Sticky. It's not like magic happened, or

When something goes right for me, it is a special time. Even when the
smallest, most insignificant thing goes right, it's time for thanks.

I hate to drive around here. Road rage hell.

While it is working, get it lubricated properly, or next time it may seize
in a position where you won't be able to open it.

That's part of the magick! The people who offered advice are part of the
magick. Anytime anything goes correctly in my life, I consider it magick
and thank the Universe which includes the people involved.

On top of that, a few souls thought it was an entertaining thread.

They are fine, we only have 5 now, total of 16 through the place this
summer.

We had 4 at the start of spring, saw a mother and kittens under our back
shed, we eventually caught 4 kittens and mom. We made a deal to get mom
fixed at cost with our vet, mom was 16 weeks preggers already, no
operation. We kept one of the first load of kittens, rest went to a local
shelter, got a cage for mom and kept her in the basement.

At about this time we lost our favourite cat to liver issues. Was a sad
couple of days.

Mom had a litter of 7 (ouch), we kept all till about 8 weeks, but put up an
adoption sign at our vet. Adopted out three, kept one, and lost the runt
of the litter, then took mom and the remaining 3 down to the same shelter.

We found out that 2 of the orinal 3 we took to that shelter had been adpted
out, not sure yet about the latest load, my wife is off of work tomorrow I
may get her to call the shelter and get the latest count.

It has been an interesting summer, although if we are presented with all
this again, I think I'll get a big bucket for some drownings. BTW, we did
patch that hole under the shed, they can't get there, anymore.

I have 5 now but they are a lot of work because they all have medical
problems which means different prescription diets and different
medications everyday. Each one needs a lot of attention and
monitoring. I love them to death, but it's hard doing it by yourself.

I'm worried about the cable breaking if you pull on it too hard while it
is sticking. getting the hood open after the cable breaks is a right
nasty XXXXX.

I want to be sure:

You _Did_ lubricate it?
if so, with what? soap, vegetable oil, or wd40?

Check the wisdom of FrozenNorth
Lube it again *now* while it is working. put lube on it and then pull it
several times to move the lubricant up into the casing. do it at both
ends, under the hood and at the handle.

WD40 is superior to soap or vegetable oil. you should avoid the soap if
possible, actually; although it is good to put it on sqeaking belts,
should you ever have one.

under 50K onna corolla is very good. the car should last quite a while.
what color is it?

Yes, sir.
I used WD40.
The color is supposed to be teal. It's pretty beat-up, but it runs.
Insurance and property taxes are real low on an old car.

I agree and what I was on to as well - After I'd presumed 'cable broken' I
re-assessd and came up with the equally possible 'cable not brioken but
still stuck' LOL!

Yes indeed - WD40 et-al, are not lubtricants of any good sort - rather
'Water Displacement' agents with some short term lubricating properties 'on
the side', hence the 'WD' bit etc, and tend to form grinding pastes with the
original friction material problem, before also ceasing to lube at all. -
Get some good oil in there before a cable change, which should be cheap,
quick and easy anyhow. BE WELL!

They call the color Teal but it looks more like a dark turquoise to me.
Lots of scratches, dents, scrapes. Haven't washed the outside in 4 years.
No rust either! Wanna buy it?

The price: Keep me in quality weed for the next 5 years. Simple.

I'd have to move there and setup a grow...
Let me work the bugs out of my LED invention first.

A homeland security situation is one of the potentials arising with the
capability implied by a working LED grow light.

I have not abandoned that project. It requires financing beyond what is
casual for me personally, that's all. So until I get a local investor
online for it, it is a 'mow slow' kinda thingie; which is OK because the
tech keeps getting cheaper and cheaper, like an everready battery bunny

De nada. I am glad again.

As a bit of a mechanic (playing with engines/MC's/all parts) since I was a
kid, having done a fair bit in my last job, and being my bicycels (pl.) soul
maintainer (and I built my last mountain bike, from the frame up, incl.
lacing a rim to a rear wheel hub, first time around, pressing in the headset
cups, designing and having turned a susp. fork seal press to replace worn
seals with etc.) I have had plenty of cause to find out first hand as well
as hear the caution from many others.

If you treat that car right, change the oil every 3k miles, it could
last you many,many,many miles.
Our Toyota Celica, 10 years old has 165,000 miles, and the Toyota
Sienna8 yrs old has 135,00 miles on it. This is a combo of highway and
city driving on both. The van we bought used w 79K miles on it. These
damn things just keep rollin and rollin. DH says the Celica is burning
a little oil now. Go Toyota. Wish our American manufacturers would
take lessons and get us some good mileage reliable cars.
So glad the hood cable is acting right now. I was wondering how it all
went.

Thanks OH.
I have the oil changed every 3 months because I don't put enough miles

We used to live in new Jersey, and everytime we visit, before we reach
our destination, we've had at least one bird flipped and one fist
shaken at us. LOL. So glad we're more out in the country, love those
country roads where we usually see only a few cars, tractors or those
BIGMama Farm machines with the 5' tall tires, that ya have to get off
the road for. First time I saw one of those things coming at me I near
had apoplexy!!! But you move over, they move over, and somehow ya get
by them safely, and get a wave from the driver.
Wish our insurance would go down because our cars are old, no such
luck.!! OH

Oh, that' what I want, a place to live with a small population.
The city I live in is 125,000, way too many people. Too many mean people.
Now, fukkin' Donald Trump is going to build one of his frigging Trump Towers
here. More damn people and up go the property taxes.
And the friggin' Royal Bank of Scotland is now tearing up a couple of blocks
to build another ugly office building. More damn people and up go the
property taxes.
We already get the damn Swiss Bank here taking up 2 city blocks with the
largest trading floor in the world.
Just what we don't need, more rich snobs in their SUV's trying run me over
in my old Corolla and more friggin' mean people.
Can ya tell I can't wait to move out of this hell hole?
