Mentality of people toward Pot

| I went to a party yesterday. Graduation party for an old
friends daughter. When I stepped out on the deck and asked
someone if they wanted to burn one, I got a nasty look.
"Hey man there are kids around"
Of course, everyone was drunk as XXXX and chain smoking
cigarettes.
One dude said "Got to set an example for the kids no herb
smoking around here"
I just thought it was ironic. People cussing, drunk on beer
and booze and smoking cigarettes like chimneys
But, I needed to set "An example"????
Our "Guvment" sure has done a good job brainwashing people
into thinking booze and cigarettes (Big tax revenue) is OK
but heaven forbid I smoke a joint.
XXXXing stupid how people justify drunkenness and cigarettes
but pot is thought of as a bad example. People are just
brainwashed.
I stepped into the woods, burned one and came back to
observe a fight, 2 women puking and one guy passed out.
Some example huh??

Did you counter with your own argument from the real world? Hmmm?

Yep. You needed to set an example of honesty and openness for the benefit
of the other non-students present. :-/

I do notice that you (at least, as far as you've described) stepped into the
woods without inviting anyone or telling anyone the truth about their
hypocrisy. :-(

Total bullshit... but you didn't help any.

| You are right, but, it was a 18 year old kids graduation
party so I decided to play it cool. My point was how many
have been conditioned by the Government to accept some forms
of intoxication as long as the "Guvment" is obtaining
revenue from it. The only reason they do not legalize pot is
money.
The beer and wine lobby and pharmaceutical lobby is scared
to death of pot.

| You're exactly right. I feel the same way.
Should the day ever come when we can smoke openly, people will still throw
you the dirty look due to the long history of anti-marijuana propaganda.
Lying bastards.

How old were these "kids" they spoke of?
This kinda reminds me of a party I went to last new years. It was a
little after midnight and I had a few pre-rolled fattys on hand. I
asked if anyone wanted to light up and got a handful of takers. Most of
the non-takers politely declined (got a few icy stares though, lol) but
this one XXXXXXX got up in my face about it "Look at this XXXXing stoner
idiot! Don't you know how stupid pot makes you?" He said some other
shit (something about me being a "XXXXing hippie who needs a haircut" I
believe) but I wasn't in a fighting mood so I just rolled my eyes, went
out back and smoked the joints with my new friends.
Fast forward an hour or so, I'm having a good old time yakking it up
with a cute little stoner chick (one of the aforementioned "new
friends"). He, on the other hand was yelling like retard, sporting a
fat lip from a girl he tried to grope. Then he stumbled over, collapsed
on a couch and vomited all over himself. I walked up to him, tossed a
roll of paper towels on his lap and said "It could just be my
pot-clouded mind, but I figured you might want to clean yourself up.
That shit'll start to smell before long." He mumbled some sort of
jumbled insult and passed out, vomit still drying on his face and shirt.
Sometimes you prove people wrong and sometimes you don't have to, they
do a far better job of it themselves.

Normally I'd agree with you but I've found that trying to start an
argument (especially one as heated as that can be) with a drunk person
can be a *very* bad idea. It's a good way to ruin a party or even get
yourself hurt.
