This is regarding the "Dalai Lama Chanting for Healing" CD that I
offered, copied and sent out to many of you. Please forgive me for
using the listserve for this message, but several of you have blocked
email addresses and I want everyone to get this information.

I want to emphasize that this is a wonderful CD of the healing chant as
transcribed on the label, and I encourage everyone to continue using it,
as I will.

In researching it, however, I have decided that Larry was correct: it
is not the Dalai Lama doing the chanting, but a yogi master named Hein
Bratt. The Dalai Lama probably had nothing to do with the CD, which has
apparently been around for many years, and appears to have been
originally lifted from a CD by Hein Bratt that includes two mantras:
Gayatri mantra and the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra, which is the "Chant for
Healing" on our CD. It also is possible it's a separate recording of
the same chant by Hein Bratt; I have heard only a very brief clip
on-line of the original, but it is clearly the same voice.

This blog link explains it and gives the original site that sold the
Bratt CD (which is in the UK), plus a site in the US
(IsabellaCatalog.com) that also sells it (for $28):
(Sorry, listserve will not accept my message with the link included for
some reason... Try Googling "My Weblog: A Chant to Heal All Illness")

I believe in respecting copywrite protection for artists, and for myself
(because I can afford it) I have ordered a legitimate copy of Hein
Bratt's CD "Gayatri Mantra". However, I don't regret copying the
version I had, as I did so in good faith, and know that some of you
cannot afford to purchase a CD. I hope that those of you who can afford
to and think it is worth it will buy a copy, and those of you who cannot
will enjoy the copy you have, and refer others to Isabella's. But each
of us must make our own ethical choices, knowing the truth.

Please accept my apologies for having believed something (as did,
apparently, many many others) that I WANTED to believe. And please
continue to enjoy the wonderful chanting.

Peace,
Ginny

Thanks for the update & Yikes! I'd just had 8 copies burned by a friend
to give out. I think I will copy and print your message (below) if
that's OK with you, with a note of my own since I'd marked the CD's and
mentioned it was OK to reproduce and give, while I decide whether to go
ahead and give them. Plus I'll try googling Hein Bratt, as I for one
wouldn't mind having more of his chanting: even my cat likes it (he is
not a Tom Waits fan). Thanks again, best, Marnia
