| Sorry to post to the list but I wrote to the moderators a while back and have not heard yet, unless my spamfilter killed the reply.
I would like to have a post delated from the archives please.
Would it be possible to help?
Thanks.

A private reply was sent regarding your inquiry about how to delete a
posting that shows up in search engine results. I'll repeat my original
reply here:
Our CFS-L messages are piped out to the public via Usenet and once
there they can be archived by myriad online services over which I
have no control. I'm afraid that your only hope would be to
contact each online archive that shows up as a Google hit.
Since you are the author of the original message, you would have
standing to request such a deletion that I don't have.
Sorry for the sad news.

| Hi Roger
Thansk for your reply. Obviously my spamfilter did intercept your message.
I will contact Google myself.
Regards
Richard

Keep in mind, Google merely assembles info from and links to
various websites. Google itself has no control over the web sites
that are making CFS-L posts like yours available for the public to see.
And Google is not at all likely to delete their search-result items for
any web sites. You would actually have to negotiate with each
individual site and get them to delete the postings that you authored.
This challenge is so immense that it may be virtually impossible. This
is why I offered my regrets in my original reply.
If you were successful in getting some sites to delete your posting,
then as Google goes thru its regular process of re-indexing its
Internet data over weeks and months, the old search results would
slowly disappear. But if any or even just one site is unresponsive to
your request, then Google would link to them/it in their search results.
Once again, I extend regrets to you and others for whom this creates
a problem.

If they know where to search for it, yes. We have a notice about
this in welcome materials when people first sign up to this group.
It's in with with dozens of other notices that are also in the welcome
materials. Each notice is important to read. And given the limitations
of the people who sign up for this group, many or most of those notices
never get read. I've never found a way around this.
