If you're referring to L-tryptophan, it's now available over the
counter, or at least over the internet (as well as by prescription from
compounding pharmacies, but that way is incredibly expensive). I get it
from www.iherb.com. I take it for depression, and it works better for
me than 5-HTP did, and without the diarrhea that 5-HTP caused for me.
It is somewhat sedating; I take it all (3000 mg) at night. Most people
would take much less, more like 500-1000 mg/day.
