| Hey Shea -
Many people w/ Hashi's don't have a goiter.. No one noticed it except for my OBGYN as she is trained to see it. My fam didn't notice as it grows SO slowly. Wow, am I aware of it now!
Anyhow, I can't explain it as well as my ND can but I told her almost the same thing as what you said regarding water, needing it all the time. I won't go ANYWHERE with out it. I don't know why.. Since switching to my Paleo diet, I don't need hardly any
salt and I almost can't stand too salty food - this is the complete opposite pre-diet. There is a connection with salt and CFS folks I know. Do you get heart palps as well? When I get them going like crazy, which isn't often unless I"m stressed, but when
I do, I throw a good pinch of salt in my mouth and wa-la, palps gone. I think for some reason this disease causes our bodies to use more salt than healthy folks in order to function and I don't know why, but my ND does and I just cannot explain it the wa
y she does.. Brain inept for Wendi! Something about cells needing it to function along with the water... Wow, strange. I thought I was just weird. Good to know I'm not the only one!
And now I swear I will not fly unless I'm able to carry water onto the plane. I need to sip it during take off as I get nervous, dry mouth, etc... Sheesh!
The Hashimoto's test is called an Anti-TPO test.
Have a good one!

Hi Wendi and Tony,
Well, I'm finally getting back to this post. Yes, I did have full thyroid panals
when I was first sick and for years there after, and nothing was out of the norm
for me either. However a few years ago my TSH was low and my Doctor started
me on Armour Thyroid. It took about 9 months to get just the right dose to reg-
ulate it, but it's finally better. I'm not as tired now, and my hair isn't falling out like
it was. I know my T-3 and T-4 was done and it was always okay. I don't remember
having "antibodies to Hashimoto's" done, and I'm going to ask my Primary Doctor
about that next time. A friend of mine has Hashimoto's (and she doesn't have a
goiter). I've always wondered about that, but always forgot to ask if they did that
test for me. They did SO many tests years ago when I was so sick..that it may of
been done back then..but that was 16 years ago that I had such extensive testing
done for the first few years when I was so sick. Since then I am not as sick, and so
I only get the standard blood tests done once a year at a physical..which is how
they caught that my TSH was so low. Oh..and also follow up on testing my TSH
now. I also usually am abnormally low on Sodium. They have done extensive
testing to see why that is. My Doctor finally thought that I just drink alot of water
and that flushes alot of it out of me. I think I do need alot of fluids and I often
crave salt. I feel that I always have to have a bottle of water with me..or I panic.
lol! I think my Sodium has been on the low side, borderline low or abnormally low
since I got CFS.
Thanks for writing..
