I am sure that I had read messages from PWCs saying that when they
switched to fluoxetine (generic for Prozac) that they had to take
higher doses but I can not find those messages.

If you have switched and now take a higher dose, please tell me what
dose you took of Prozac and what dose of fluoxetine you now take.
Thank you in advance for all replies.

I took Prozac/fuoxetine for many years for severe depression. When I
switched from the brand to the generic, I did not have to take a higher
dose - I took 80 mg. of each.
Incidentally, since then I have switched to Lexapro because of bad side
effects (severe agitation/anxiety, esp. at night) from
Prozac/fluoxetine. Lexapro was somewhat better in that regard.

When Prozac went generic, my HMO forced me to switch. But I didn't change
dosage. I used 20 mg. every other day in both cases. I, frankly, never
noticed a difference between Prozac and its generic formulation.
