Hi Roger,
I do the same. :-) Although I am sitting at the computer doing my schoolwork
for a large portion of the day, whenever I have the slightest bit of energy
to exercise/get things done, I definitely jump to the opportunity. Last
month, I had almost TWO full weeks of feeling somewhat energetic. Well, not like a
normal-person energetic, but slightly energetic nonetheless. During these two
weeks, I sanded my entire car down with an electric sander, taped it off,
and sprayed it primer black, in preparation for it to get painted. I think
others can relate to feeling good for a while, and then "relapsing". It seems
that since then, I've been worse on the not being able to breath/shortness of
breath/faint thing. I hear ya on the gardening! I have big plans for a raised
bed garden on the left side of my house, but I haven't had the energy to get
to doing anything with it, yet. My mom and I are on the hunt for a very large
rock to put in the garden--like a boulder. We want to place it next to a
fountain; I'm envisioning a really soothing place to hang out.
So you're doctor recommends at least 30 mins. of exercise a day, huh? I want
to attempt to do that, except start off VERY slow, as in a 10 min. walk per
day first. I still really want to get my heart checked out, and my mom thinks
I should too, but I'm starting to think my problem is partly severe
deconditioning. My heart goes crazy when I exercise.
Take Care,
Dina

Dina,
I think other people in the group can share their experiences in
this also, but I know when I feel good enough to exercise. If I try
to get into shape and don't feel up to it, I'm in a world of hurt!
The best thing I've done since I became ill, is to learn how to
listen to my body. If I have a craving for a particular cheese, I go
buy it. If I want vanilla ice cream, I go find it. When I want to
take a walk, I walk until It seems I'm done. Today I just spent an
hour in my yard weeding and pruning, until I reached my wall and then
I came inside.
If you think it's time to quit and put things down, then do it!
We know our limits, and how we pay when we ignore those limits. My
dr said to try for 30 minutes of moderate activity a day, even on bad
days. I can do that much, but I won't promise him more than that!
