My "flare-up-sign" is all cartilages related ones.
"Bright-red, swollen-up and painful ears, hearing impairment,
unbearable neck, head (both side), chest (rib cartilages) and
pelvis pain and airway choking (NOT oesophagus!) with
EXTREME fatigue".
(I must admit that the fatigue is much severer than the one
in my CFS period).
* Cartilages exist wherever bones exist in your body so,
the above pain is quite wide range in your body. The type
of the pain is "bone-type" (not muscle type). I suffered from
FM (fibromyalgia) also so, I can tell that the pain is different
from FM.
As far as I know there are "three" RP (relapsing polychondritis)
patients, including myself, who had got CFS diagnosis BEFORE
they got RP diagnosis. The entire population of RP is so small,
so, I assume "three" is not ignorable.
To check if you have suffered from RP or not, I strongly
recommend you to change the doctor from CFS to Rheum
who can give you the diagnosis of "relapsing polychondritis"
in your area (so few Rheum can give you its diagnosis).
If you have RP *and* if your airway is involved, then you
could loose your life. So, I urge you to change your doctor.
CFS doctors can not give you diagnosis of RP.
RP does not have specific and reliable blood test as CFS.
Hope this will be helpful to you.
Worrying Hugs, Rika
ps.
This is not often, but, "occasionally", CFS overlaps other
diseases, (rheum related ones, cancer etc). As far as I know
doctors have tendency to loose their alert after they give you
CFS diagnosis (CFS, safe disease) so, be careful.
I had terrible time for this for 10 years.
